This sled combines both a cross cut sled and a miter sled all in one. Only question is, the Kreg swing stop only has the precision adjustable lens on one side or the other at a time. First, take a marker and color in the entire sides of the runners. Carefully lift the sled off the saw, then screw on the second runner. It should slide very smoothly and need no further tuning. Once you remove the tight spots, use paste wax on the sides of the runners, and on the base of the sled. The set screws were so tight I could barely get them adjusted without damaging the screws. How do I do that? For whatever you are creating is cut at the precise and exact angle you need every time. However, your runners don’t have to be that long. In this way, any length bolt can be placed (upside down) in the t-track. Many manufacturers sell these throat plates for their table saws, so you can check into that as well. I used different but equivalent parts that i got from Woodcraft. The table saw I was handed down is a 10″ craftsman….it is so much louder and more clunky than most saws I see on youtube. I just bought a ryobi 10 inch saw expanded capacity and rolling stand. First set some washers or pennies in your miter slot. Very nice sled.  That meant I could imagine in my head and plan out as best as possible the best table saw sled I could think of. I used ¾” plywood because in addition to the 1×4 stretchers, the thickness will reduce the chance of flex in the sled. Once the fence is set to cut your runners so they fit snug in the miter slot, you can run all your runners through to make them fit equally well.  I settled on these screws. When I install them as you have suggested using a shim underneath the runners to make them proud of the table, after installation of the runners, the sled is binding on the table and is almost impossible to push through. So before starting, you’ll want to turn the stock your using on its edge and make sure it’s thickness is wider than your miter tracks. Daniel, you would save a lot of money by using Orange Aluminum 48″ T-track rather than the Kreg ($15 each vs $27 each). The side of the sled to the right of the blade seems like it would be very short to accommodate the insert. I just received the last package/parts necessary to start building this, and I can’t wait to start using it. I’ve recently made a miter sled that is pretty small, and I used some runner stock I had laying around from my previous sled. MIne is 27″ deep as well so you should be good to go! I was given a few items from my dad and it just seems to be a great hobby to start up.  I cut most of pieces to size on the table saw. Most table saw sleds are made from a single plywood panel, which is cut in half the first time you use the sled.  Needing a way to insert the bolts and remove them, I made a 3/4″ wide by approximately 1 1/2″ long cut. Pre-drilling the aluminum is super easy being it is so soft. People have scaled it to fit smaller or larger saws but most of the time it is not needed. For the cross cut sled portion, I made a small box where the blade protrudes out the back of the saw. This console table features a solid wood frame and complemented by a beautiful faux marble top. A couple of suggestions for the directions – I would only make the initial cut through the front fence just high enough to cut a piece of plywood on the sled for the ‘5 cut’ adjustment. I personally use a thin-rip jig I designed pictured above, which is also part of Wood Shop Essentials. The upper section fits between the tabs, not as snug, and is tall enough to reach up and touch the sled. It really helps. Factory throat plates typically have a wide gap next to the blade. Mine is 27″ deep and I wonder if I should resize the project or is this the same as yours?
